If you ask to Antonio Garcia Martinez, one of the former executives in Facebook, “After working in Silicon Valley the center of technological developments for so many years, why someone leave everything and estrange himself from social life and expect the end of the world in an island?”, he would give this short answer: “I have seen what would the world look like soon and that was enough for me.

Martinez told to the documentary team of Secrets of Silicon Valley “In the forthcoming 30 years half of the world population will be unemployed. Things may get worse. Civilization may collapse completely. That is why I am here.”

He believes that artificial intelligence and robotic technologies developed in his former workplace, Silicon Valley would turn the global economical balances upside-down sooner than it is expected, he also stated “Believe me, I am coming from the future. I have just get out of the time machine named San Franscisco. I have seen what would be the world like in the upcoming 5-10 years. Things that would seem impossible to you now will become reality very soon.”

Martinez bought a vast land on the Orcas Island close to Seattle. Nowadays he is trying to design his land in a self-sufficient way. For that purpose,  he is constructing shelters and storing clean water, agricultural products and even ammunition.

Former Facebook executive who also constructed poligons considering the future risks answers when asked whether he goes overboard or not “There is a serious race between politics and technology. And technology is well ahead. So many peeople will lose their jobs as a consequence of latest technological developments. Unfortunately there is no social study to stop this and prevent poverty.”
